What is a role of a Health and Wellbeing Coach?

A coach’s main role is to help people to take an active role in looking after their own health and wellbeing.
Particularly people with long-term conditions that can be managed through lifestyle changes.  
The idea is to help support people look after and manage their own physical and mental health. Coaches can help with the following areas:
  • Lifestyle management: Motivational coaching, healthy lifestyle education, weight management, activity & healthy eating, obesity, sleeplessness
  • Stress management: Burn-out, fatigue, anxiety, depression, pains (stress related), meditation therapies, emotional fatigue, low mood, apathy, physical tiredness without cause
  • Long Term Conditions: Diabetes, COPD, blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, lifestyle education and support with achieving goals
 

How Health and Wellbeing Coach support patients?

Coaches aim to help people make these positive lifestyle changes, with the aim of leading to long-term behaviour change. They help through setting goals and targets, establishing healthier habits and increasing people's knowledge, skills and confidence. They support adult patients suffering from:

  • Fatigue
  • Pre-diabetes
  • Sleeplessness
  • Stress, low mood, short temper, anxiety
  • Obesity, lifestyle advice
  • Long term conditions support, aches & pains
  • Long - COVID psychosomatic symptoms (fatigue, pain, brain fog, shortness of breath) 

Health and Wellbeing Coaches empower patients to take control of their health and well-being, fostering self-management and reducing reliance on medication.
