First Contact Dietitian

A First Contact Dietitian play a key role in helping patients with making better lifestyle and food choices. 
They can diagnose and treat diet and nutritional problems for adult patients of all ages, as well as address diabetes, food allergies, coeliac disease, and metabolic diseases.
Dietitians can also translate public health and scientific research on food, health, and disease into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices.

How can Dietitian support patients?

First Contact Dietitians provide a holistic care to patients.

They assess patients, listen to what matters to them, support patients or their carers to work out how food and drink is affecting their life. 

They are trainined and qualified to discuss multiple problems, including:

  • Diabetes / Pre-diabetes
  • Obesity / Weight Management
    • BMI 30+
    • Prevention of further complications of obesity (CVD, Diabetes, Sleep apnea)​
    • Consultation of bariatric surgery option
  • Frailty, malnutrition
    • ​​​​​​ Insufficient nutrition intake for any reason: ​e.g. mental health, food version, sickness, texture modification, dietary restrictions, malabsorption​, underweight
  • Gastrointestinal conditions:
    • Undiagnosed IBS / Coeliac disease
    • Symptoms of stomach pain, bloating and wind, diarrhea/constipation, indigestion, unintentional weight loss, tiredness​
  • General education on healthy balanced diet (low carbs, high fibre, low fat diet)  portion control, food labels

Our team strives to provide an excellent service every time.

In the recent survey 93% of patients found it helpful to speak to our Dietitian. 

Over 90% mentioned they would "very likely" recommend our Dietitian to their family member, frient or colleague. 

The overall patient satisfaction score was 4.88 out of 5.
